The BRU Maker One has a few function menus that can help you make your tea in different ways.
The machine already starts in M1. Main menu. From there, turn the main button to the right to get to the different menus.
Explanation of every menu
Before using each menu, make sure there is tea in the tea sieve (! Except when using M6. Dispenser of M9. Machine setup).
M1. Main menu
The main menu is the first thing you see when using the BRU Maker One. It is your fastest track to a cup of tea.
- If you want to start brewing with the settings that are displayed on the screen, press the main button or the right button.
If you want to adapt the settings:
- Press the left button to select SETUP.
- Set your water temperature by turning the main button. Press NEXT.
- Set your steeping time by turning the main button. Press NEXT.
- Set your water amount by turning the main button. Make sure you don’t select a bigger water amount than your cup can hold. Press NEXT.
- Press ‘start’ or press the main button to start brewing.
The settings you choose will be saved for your next cup of tea, so the main menu always displays the last chosen settings.
M2. Green tea preset
Our presets are there to provide you with a set of brewing settings to choose, depending on the type of tea you have.
So if you want to drink a green tea and don’t want to adjust the main menu settings, you can use the green tea preset to quickly brew with a temperature, steeping time and water amount that make sense for a usual green tea.
When you get the machine, the green tea preset will be set as follows:
Water temperature: 80°C / 180 F
Steeping time: 2 min
Water amount: 250 ml / 8 oz
- If you want to start brewing with the settings that are displayed on the screen, press the main button or the right button.
- But you can also adapt the green tea preset settings to your liking, analog to adapting the main menu settings.
M3. Black tea preset
Works analog to the green tea preset.
When you get the machine, the black tea preset will be set as follows:
Water temperature: 95°C / 205 F
Steeping time: 5 min
Water amount: 250 ml / 8 oz
M4. Herbal tea preset
Works analog to the green tea preset.
When you get the machine, the herbal tea preset will be set as follows:
Water temperature: 90°C / 200 F
Steeping time: 5 min
Water amount: 250 ml / 8 oz
M5. Multi steeping
With our machine you can make 350 ml / 11.8 fl. oz of tea at a time, but what if you want to make more? The multi steeping function is here to help you out! With the multi steeping function you can make up to 4 consecutive brews at a time, adding up to 1400 ml/ 47.3 fl. oz. The number on the display indicates how many steep cycles will be done, with the settings from the main menu.
So for example, if your main menu settings are 90°C / 200 F, 5 min and 250 ml / 8 oz, and you select multi-steep 4, you will make 4x the amount of the main menu, so 1 litre / 32 oz of tea at 90°C / 200 F, steeped in 5 min.
NOTE: when using multi-steep, make sure to put enough tea in the sieve and to put a big enough container under the nozzle outlet.
- If you want to start brewing multi-steep with the amount of steep cycles that is displayed on the screen, press the main button or the right button.
If you want to adapt the settings:
- Press the left button to select NEXT.
- Set your amount of steep cycles to 2,3 or 4 by turning the main button. Press NEXT.
- Press START or press the main button to start brewing.
M6. Dispenser
Did you know that you can also use your BRU Maker One as a (hot) water dispenser? Just choose the water amount and temperature, and it will be dispensed into your cup.
NOTE: when using the dispenser, make sure that your tea sieve is clean or that you take it out of the machine.
- If you want to start dispensing water with the settings displayed on the screen, press the main button or the right button.
- Press the left button to select SETUP.
- Set your water temperature by turning the main button. Press NEXT.
- Set your water amount by turning the main button. Press NEXT,
- Press START or press the main button to start dispensing.
M7. Timer
The timer is one of the most convenient functions of the BRU Maker One. It allows you to start brewing your cup of tea at a later time in the day. Simply fill the sieve with some tea and set the time for when you want the BRU Maker One to start brewing. For example, in the evening when you go to sleep you can set a timer at your wakeup time, let’s say 7.30 AM, to start the day out great with a cup of tea.
The display screen indicates at what time the tea will start brewing, with the settings from the main menu.
NOTE: the tea will start brewing at the indicated time, which means that from that moment the steeping process will start. So if you set your timer for example at 9 AM, and your tea will steep for 5 minutes, your tea will be ready at 9.05 AM.
How do you use the timer function?
First, make sure there is tea in the tea sieve and enough water in the tank.
Then, go to the timer menu.
- If you want to start brewing at the time displayed on the screen, press the main button or the right button.
- Press the left button to select SETUP.
- Set your hours by turning the main button. Press NEXT.
- Set your minutes by turning the main button. Press NEXT.
- Press ‘start’ or press the main button to put the machine in timer mode, it will then start brewing your tea at the time indicated on the display.
M8. Cool down
The cool-down function allows you to prepare your tea at a more ready-to-drink temperature. It does this by brewing the tea with a percentage of the water, then adding the rest of the water unheated.
The display screen indicates under ‘TEA’ what percentage of the water will be used to brew the tea, and under ‘WATER’ what percentage of unheated water will be added in the end. The brewing settings from the main menu will be added.
We recommend steeping for a little bit longer when using the cool-down function, as to not loose on taste.
- If you want to start brewing with cool-down percentages displayed on the screen, press the main button or the right button.
- Press the left button to select SETUP.
- Adapt the percentages by turning the main button. Press NEXT.
- Press START or press the main button to start brewing.
M9. Machine setup
Through this menu you can access the machine settings. We talk more about these settings here.
- Press ENTER to go to the settings.
- Press BACK to go back to the main menu.
